Powder coating is based on electrically charging paint particles. The charged particles are directed onto an earthed metal surface, where they adhere; electrical and mechanical forces work together in this process and play a key role in coating quality and performance.

Electrostatic powder coating is a solvent-free coating method that protects the surface from external factors while providing a refined cosmetic finish. Being solvent-free is a significant health and occupational safety advantage for operators and applicators.

The process begins with surface preparation: degreasing, rinsing, phosphate coating and drying. Phosphate crystals help the paint bond to the surface and act as a second shield against corrosion should the coating be scratched. Coating is then applied with corona or tribo charging guns, and curing in a convection oven at 180–200 °C bonds the film layer permanently to the surface.

In electro-galvanising, zinc is connected to the anode and the part to be coated to the cathode in an electrolyte bath; applied current deposits zinc onto the part surface, and passivation makes the coating permanent. Electro-galvanising leaves material properties unchanged and the part remains weldable; the coating is pure zinc and will not flake off.

Hot-dip galvanising is an economical, long-lasting coating method for iron and steel, extending service life by up to around 30 years with no maintenance required. Galvanising, zinc coating and powder or wet painting requirements are fulfilled together with our specialist contracted suppliers.
